Ziraat Bank’s asset size expanded by 64.4% year-on-year to TL 3,800 billion. The Bank’s shareholders’ equity, on the other hand, rose to TL 331.2 billion, up 63.6% year-on-year Prioritizing sustainable profitability, the Bank generated a Return on Equity of 34.5% in 2023 and a Return on Assets of 3.0%.
Ziraat Bank proactively manages credit quality with its efficient credit processes, and supported investment in the agriculture, manufacturing, exports, energy and technology sectors with the financing opportunities which it provided in 2023. The Bank recorded a 55.7% increase in its cash loans to TL 2.0 billion in 2023.
As its balance sheet became more customer-oriented, The Bank’s total deposits increased by 68.8% in 2023 to reach TL 2.9 billion, with the Bank maintaining its long run of leadership in the sector in terms of total deposits in 2023.
Ziraat Bank works in cooperation with the entire ecosystem in order to provide the products and services its customers need as accurately and quickly as possible.
The bank launched Treasury-supported “2023 KGF Support Packages” for all SME and non-SME customers who require collateral support for investment or working capital financing, and a total of TL 66.7 billion of loans had been disbursed within the scope of 14 packages as of the end of 2023.
Ziraat Bank implemented the “Investment Support Package” for its customers needing collateral support to meet their investment financing needs within the scope of the Investment Incentive Certificate (YTB). In this vein, TL 214 million of loans had been extended as of the end of 2023.
Within the scope of the cooperation protocol entered into between Ziraat Bank and the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), the “Vade(SİZ) Export Credit Package”, which includes appropriate maturity and interest rates, was brought into operation in order to ensure continuity in exporters’ access to credit, with TL 30 billion in loans extended as of the end of 2023.
Within the framework of the “İGE 100th Anniversary Treasury Support Package” designed to meet the financing needs of exporters, a total of TL 780 million in loans had been extended to 251 customers as of the end of 2023.
A total of TL 16.6 billion had been extended within the scope of environmental loan products (Solar power plants, Roof-top solar power plants, Licensed plants, solar power plant investments and Business Loans) as of the end of the year.
A total of TL 378.5 billion in loans were extended to 1,057,000 customers Ziraat Bank’s own resources for the financing of the agricultural sector, with a total of 229,000 new customers added to the portfolio. The balance of agricultural loans had reached TL 437 billion as of the end of the year, with the number of credit customers reaching 1,207,000.
Offering individual banking products and services to a wide customer base through its branches and electronic service channels, Ziraat Bank extended TL 16.1 billion of housing loans in 2023, with the Bank expanding its total housing loan portfolio to TL 107.6 billion.
Ziraat Bank’s consumer loans reached a total of TL 63 billion in 2023 with TL 58.7 billion being disbursed, while the end-year balance of vehicle loans standing at TL 11.6 billion.
In 2023, Ziraat Bank secured the largest sustainability-themed syndicated loan ever to be provided by a bank in Turkey at one time, raising a total amount worth USD 1.3 billion (consisting of USD 418 million and EUR 784 million). This loan, with the participation of 52 banks from 25 countries, has a maturity of 367 days. It is the second sustainability-themed syndicated loan to be provided by the Bank through the syndication method in international markets.
Ziraat Bank presses on with its activities to integrate sustainability into all of its business processes within the framework of its responsible banking approach.
In this vein, the Bank provided notification of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in 2023 and completed its first sustainability reporting. The evaluation carried out by the CDP (the Carbon Disclosure Project), the world’s most prestigious and widely applied environmental initiative, found that Ziraat Bank had achieved significant success with an A- rating in the Water Security category and a B rating in the Climate Change category.
Ziraat Bank updated its sustainability policy in 2023, taking national and international developments into account, and established the Sustainability Committee during the year.
Ziraat Bank aims to offer services that will serve customers at all times and on all platforms within the framework of future service models. In line with this goal, the Bank completed the establishment preparations for Ziraat Finansal Teknolojiler Ödeme Hizmetleri ve Elektronik Para A.Ş. (ZiraatPay), and plans to launch these services in the near future.
In addition, the BRSA issued the go-ahead to establish Ziraat Dinamik Banka A.Ş., the first digital bank to be established under the ownership of a financial group in our country.
